Who we are
I’m Rhys John-Salmon, and I founded Solutions-HE to offer a more personalised, inclusive, and strategic approach to support within the higher education sector. Solutions-HE is a specialist consultancy service designed to meet the evolving needs of students, staff, and institutions—whether through direct one-to-one support or institution-wide consultancy and development.
With over a decade of experience working across Student Services, Student Disability Services, and Wellbeing, I’ve developed a deep understanding of the systems, challenges, and opportunities that shape the student experience. I’ve worked with some of the UK’s leading universities, contributing to the development and delivery of inclusive support models, staff training, and strategic initiatives that improve outcomes for all students—particularly those who are neurodivergent or from underrepresented backgrounds.
Throughout my career, I’ve worked with services that support neurodivergent students, contributed to the development of inclusive policies, delivered DSA-funded provision, and contributed to national frameworks such as the Disabled Student Commitment. I’ve also delivered training and advised academic and professional services teams on embedding inclusive practice in ways that are practical, sustainable, and aligned with institutional goals.
Solutions-HE brings all of this together into a single, focused offering. I work directly with students, parents, and higher education institutions to deliver three core services
DSA-Funded Specialist One-to-One Mentoring (ASC)
For students eligible for DSA who would benefit from structured, autism-informed support.
This service is designed to help students navigate the impact of their experiences on academic life and the wider university environment.
Delivered by a trained professional, this mentoring offers structured, one-to-one support tailored to each student’s individual strengths and needs. It focuses on areas such as:
Managing anxiety and stress related to academic demands
Developing strategies for time management and organisation
Navigating social and communication differences in the university environment
Building confidence and independence in academic settings
This support is not academic tuition or counselling, but a practical and emotional support framework that empowers students to thrive in higher education.
All DSA-funded mentoring is delivered in line with the Department for Education’s NMH Quality Assurance Framework, ensuring high standards of professionalism, confidentiality, and student-centred care.
Student Consultancy Service
Personalised Support for Students Not Eligible for DSA.
A flexible, private support option for students who are not eligible for the Disabled Students’ Allowance (DSA) but are seeking expert, tailored guidance.
This service offers a bespoke, independent alternative to traditional mentoring programmes — ideal for students who would benefit from structured, neurodiversity-informed support to thrive in higher education.
Delivered by a trained professional with extensive experience in disability support, wellbeing, and inclusive practice, this service bridges the gap between formal support systems and the real-world needs of neurodivergent students. Support could include:
Personalised Guidance
One-to-one support tailored to each student’s goals, strengths, and needs — academic or personal.
Specialist Mentoring
Expertise in Autism and ADHD, with a focus on:
Creating a sustainable study-life balance
Supporting communication with course teams
Using assistive technology effectively
